Detroit Lions

#1 pick in the draft….. Sometimes means nothing if the direction If the direction of the team is bad…. This time the Detroit Lions have Martin Mayhew at the helm….. A former defensive player that understands the importance of defense….. Remember, kitna predicted a 10 win season a couple of years ago…. He got hurt that season and they were close…. In 2008, he didn’t play….. So they didn’t win a game….. Now with a new QB, they can focus on repairing the 32nd ranked defense….. The Lions are anchored by LB Ernie Sims….. With 5 former Buccaneer players on defense….. The level of knowledge is at a high level….. So with drafting a LB or DL first, the Lions will put themselves In a contending position….. My suggestion would be LB Aaron Curry of Wake Forest….. With that much talent added to the Lions it will be very difficult to run the ball against Detroit….. The NFC North loves to run the ball…. Curry would be a great fit…..

  1. lions should trade their #1, but highly unlikely. There is a chance with new england. I could see detroits #1,#82,#174 for new englands #23,#47, #58, #97, #207. new england gets their lb and will have many more picks, #1,#34,#82,#89,#124,#159,#170,#199,#234. detroit picks up much needed picks early on and can get some very good talent in early rounds. #20,#23,#33,#47,#58,#65, #97,#192, #255.

    • I see what your saying….. but a neccessity is defense…..Remember Marinelli was a former Buccaneer assistant coach….. so he understood the importance of defense…..the difference making defensive players will be gone before pick #23….. Now with Martin Mayhew, a former Buccaneer defensive player, will hopefully keep the tradition of defensive philosophies alive in Detroit….. U would of thought Matt Millen would have been defensive in his drafting…..
My opinion is that if Detroit doesnt pick defensive players their first two picks…..they will end up 8-8…
