My Top 5 DBs in the Combine

In DBs on March 4, 2010 at 2:25 AM

This is the position I played. I’ve played corner and safety in high school and college. So noticing talent in this position is easier for me to recognize than other positions. So here are my top 5 DBs and why.

1. S Eric Berry /Tenn.
Eric possess great hip movement and a strong sense of his center of gravity. He can turn out of his back pedal without breaking rhythm and locate the ball. Solid tackler.

2. S Taylor Mays /USC
Besides having the fastest 40 time out of all DBs, Mays’ footwork is great for his frame. At 6’3″ 231lbs he brings fierce contact with his 4.3 speed. He didn’t produce that many plays in college but with abilities like his you focus on the future.

3. C Joe Haden/ Fla
Haden is a ball hawk that knows where he needs to be and when. With average speed (4.5) he builds his game around being where he needs to be. Haden will fit well in a Tampa 2 type defense. He can make an immediate impact at nickelback.

4. CB Brandon Ghee/ Wake Forest
Ghee shows good speed and the ability to make contact. He possess good closing speed and doesn’t seperate far from WR. Didn’t make many plays in college but the action that went his way was always contested. Is not scared to make contact.

5. CB Jerome Murphy/ South Florida
Murphy has great footwork and is a solid hitter. USF DB coach Troy Douglas said that Murphy has a great chance to be a great player. “He is more longer and physical that Mike Jenkins, probably not as fast but has great ball skills. A 6’1″ 185lb frame puts Murphy in a position to be drafted early to a team that is struggling with corners.

My Top 5 RB in the Combine

In NFL on February 28, 2010 at 11:06 PM

1. C J Spiller (Clemson)
2. J. Best (Cal)
3. R.Matthews (Fresno St)
4. J.Dwyer (Georgia Tech)
5. T.Gerhart (Stanford)

These 5 RBs showed great speed and agility in the combine. Spiller has the fastest 40 time of all RBs (4.28). Explosion at all drills helped me sway to my top five. If feel LaGarrett Blount might be a sleeper back. A great showing from the 230lb and over RBs ,like Dwyer and Gerhart, pushes their draft day stock higher then originally assumed.
