My NFL 1st Round WTFs

In NFL on April 23, 2010 at 9:57 PM

In the 2010 NFL Draft three player come to Mind when the phrase WTF hits my eardrums. A couple of teams were either borderline insanity or at happy hour before the draft. By these three WTFs, there is proof that there isn’t any drug testing in upper managment.

1.If you have no OL, no WRs, no DL ( the one you had you got rid of), no LBs, and no DBs…. You don’t go drafting this….. Especially if they came off shoulder surgery to play behind a suspect OL and expect him not to bust:

2. Jacksonville Jags pick number 11 was ????

3. Broncos…. Either you’re running the option offense in 2010 or your setting up your defense to fail.

The first round usually means that you draft the best player for your most needed position. In these three teams case they treated the first round like it’s a preseason game in the fourth quarter.

St Louis Rams

In NFL on April 22, 2010 at 11:23 PM

“And with the first pick of the 2010 NFL Draft the St. Louis Rams pick Sam Bradford/ Oklahoma. Bradford is coming of a shoulder injury that knocked him out of a majority of games his senior season. He should fair well in the NFC west where passing is essential.
Will Sam Bradford succeed as a starter?

On the Clock: Detroit Lions

In NFL, OL on March 19, 2010 at 11:04 AM

The one thing you can say about the Lions is that their draft picks in the last couple of years are starting to make an impact. While trying to keep up with the rest of the division, the Lions need to address some of the main points that plague the team. In a division that just acquired Julius Peppers, the NFC North is starting to be recognized as a DL hub. Peppers(Chi), Allen(Minn), Jolly & Jenkins(GB) will be putting intense pressure on QBs they meet. So second year QB Stafford will need protection in order to exploit the average secondary in the NFC North. The OL of the 2010 draft are skilled, quick, and sized well enough to make an impact their first year. Maryland’s OT Bruce Campbell (6’5″ 315) is very agile with powerful arms and quick feet. He ran a 4.8 in the 40 yard dash and did well in the cone drills. Campbell has the size and speed to neutralize the Peppers and Allens of the NFC North.

Do you think that Campbell will be a good fit and a logical pick for the Detroit Lions?

My Mock Draft: Top 9

In NFL on March 18, 2010 at 11:01 PM

Here is my mock draft of the first nine players of the 2010 NFL Draft:

1. Sam Bradford/Rams…. Worst point production in the NFC West.

2. Bruce Campbell/Lions…. NFC North has the best pass rushing DE in the game.

3. Gerald McCoy/Bucs…. Bucs need serious help in the middle.

4. Jimmy Clausen/Redskins…. With Campbell learning another system, a fresh mind is a terrible thing to waste.

5. N. Suh/ Chiefs… Even though the Chiefs need help on offense, they couldn’t pass Suh up.

6. Golden Tate/ Seahawks… With Burleson gone they need a deep stretch of the field.

7. Jacoby Ford/ Browns…. With the addition of Delhomme, the Browns needs to compliment with a WR.

8. Trent Williams/Raiders…. With the running game getting steam, Williams will be a great plus to the horsepower.

9. Terrence Cody/Bills…. AFC East teams are strong in the running game.

My Top 5 RB in the Combine

In NFL on February 28, 2010 at 11:06 PM

1. C J Spiller (Clemson)
2. J. Best (Cal)
3. R.Matthews (Fresno St)
4. J.Dwyer (Georgia Tech)
5. T.Gerhart (Stanford)

These 5 RBs showed great speed and agility in the combine. Spiller has the fastest 40 time of all RBs (4.28). Explosion at all drills helped me sway to my top five. If feel LaGarrett Blount might be a sleeper back. A great showing from the 230lb and over RBs ,like Dwyer and Gerhart, pushes their draft day stock higher then originally assumed.
