Walter Camp is turning over in his grave…. I’m saying this because the NFL has agreed to change the overtime rules which will be ignoring a key element of the game. The new rule change would allow an opponent to receive a chance in overtime to either tie or win the game. So in a sense in last years NFC Championship game, after New Orleans would have received the overtime kickoff and won the game with a field goal, the Vikings would have had a chance to get the ball and either tie or win the game. The commissioner is ignoring a field goal and is allowing a touchdown to win in overtime. WTF…. It’s called football for a reason. To start the game you need to KICKoff…. When it’s 4th and 15 deep in your territory…. You need a punter to KICK the ball far from your side of the field…. And when a defense holds an offense to a 4th down at the defense 45 yard line. There is nothing more beautiful and skilled then a KICKER to come in the game and KICK a 62 yard winning field goal to put their team in the SuperBowl. That’s the equivalent of a buzzer beater shot….. It’s FUQN exciting…
Is this a sign that the NFL is on it’s way to being DONE?

Many rules have been upgraded and added to this 2009 season…. The protection of a player now…..will help suffering and less medical payments in the future…..
The Hines Ward block created an addition to the rules of the NFL….. Now no helmet to helmet on a blindside block…..understandable since I’ve been blocked hard like that before( it Is not fun)…..
The other major rule change is the ability to create a wedge for the kick returner…..
So if I was a head coach I would have 3 tiers of two players in front of my returner and dare the kickoff team to “stay in your lanes”…… But that’s just me…… I truly understand the purpose of the rule changes….. Just like OSHA…. Safety first….. In a way I wish these upgraded rules would have occured back in the 80s….. I think it would have saved my favorite defensive safety Andre Waters….. And many others that went that route……
So I confirm the upgrade in the rules….. I hope it saves lives and fans…. Just imagine how big football will be when the world starts playing…..
