Why Not Change The Name?

In NFL on March 23, 2010 at 2:18 PM

Walter Camp is turning over in his grave…. I’m saying this because the NFL has agreed to change the overtime rules which will be ignoring a key element of the game. The new rule change would allow an opponent to receive a chance in overtime to either tie or win the game. So in a sense in last years NFC Championship game, after New Orleans would have received the overtime kickoff and won the game with a field goal, the Vikings would have had a chance to get the ball and either tie or win the game. The commissioner is ignoring a field goal and is allowing a touchdown to win in overtime. WTF…. It’s called football for a reason. To start the game you need to KICKoff…. When it’s 4th and 15 deep in your territory…. You need a punter to KICK the ball far from your side of the field…. And when a defense holds an offense to a 4th down at the defense 45 yard line. There is nothing more beautiful and skilled then a KICKER to come in the game and KICK a 62 yard winning field goal to put their team in the SuperBowl. That’s the equivalent of a buzzer beater shot….. It’s FUQN exciting…

Is this a sign that the NFL is on it’s way to being DONE?

My Mock Draft: Top 9

In NFL on March 18, 2010 at 11:01 PM

Here is my mock draft of the first nine players of the 2010 NFL Draft:

1. Sam Bradford/Rams…. Worst point production in the NFC West.

2. Bruce Campbell/Lions…. NFC North has the best pass rushing DE in the game.

3. Gerald McCoy/Bucs…. Bucs need serious help in the middle.

4. Jimmy Clausen/Redskins…. With Campbell learning another system, a fresh mind is a terrible thing to waste.

5. N. Suh/ Chiefs… Even though the Chiefs need help on offense, they couldn’t pass Suh up.

6. Golden Tate/ Seahawks… With Burleson gone they need a deep stretch of the field.

7. Jacoby Ford/ Browns…. With the addition of Delhomme, the Browns needs to compliment with a WR.

8. Trent Williams/Raiders…. With the running game getting steam, Williams will be a great plus to the horsepower.

9. Terrence Cody/Bills…. AFC East teams are strong in the running game.

And Thats Why They Call It Football

In NFL on December 29, 2009 at 11:38 AM

And who said that kickers aren’t athletes? I bet it’s not Saints or Vikings fans…. Week 16 action has shown the two best teams in the NFC slip into the loss column…. First the Saints missed a game ending field goal with about :09 seconds left against the Bucs to only lose in overtime by a fieldgoal….. Then on Monday night football, the Vikings had a extra point blocked which caused them to go into overtime with the Bears…..Only To lose by a Jay Cutler deep pass….
Believe it or not, but the kickers, in certain situations, are the most important athletes on the field…. We need them to start the game off…. If we want to push the opponent away from their endzone after not making a first down…. And after a Touchdown, that extra point is priceless…. The New England Patriots won their 3 superbowls off the leg of Adam Vinnateri…. Don’t get me wrong, the other 52 players on a team are important also, but when the situation calls…. The kicker is the only player that is alone when they do what they do…. The RB’s can use linemen to help them glide into the endzone… QB’s can use WR to help them complete the game winning drive…. And even OL can use RB’s to sprint pass them to gain extra yardage…. But the kicker/holder combo at times are more important than a 300 yard rusher… 500 yard passer or a 2 touchdown defensive day…. Hence the name of the game…. “Football”

2105

In NFL on December 20, 2009 at 8:24 PM

The “rushing yards for the season” peak, that every RB sets his eyes for, still is own by one of the greatest that did it…. Eric Dickerson…. With that upright running style and those hog knees really made you think twice about trying to hit him around the waist…. Since watching him at SMU…(NBC would play them)… I knew he was a good runner and someone I emulated my game after… Less than a dozen RBs in the history of the games are in the 2000 yard club…. This year Florida native Chris Johnson has a good chance of breaking the record of 2105…..
To break the record….. A RB needs to average at least 132 yards each game to surpass the great Eric Dickerson

Battle of the Undefeated

In NFL on December 13, 2009 at 9:15 PM

Wow…. New Orleans keeps finding a way to pull out a victory…. In OT or on TO on downs, New Orleans will find a way…. Playing from behind is something that has plagued them the last couple of games they have played…. But they still find a way to win….
Indianapolis is business as usual to them as they win their normal 13 consecutive game in a row…. The Colts 2nd team fits into the starting lineup without missing a beat…. Signs of a solid team….
So how sweet would it be if the Superbowl hosted two undefeated teams in the city where the records stands ?

Fear of Losing vs Nothing to Lose

In NFL on December 11, 2009 at 2:06 PM

Which one brings more success? Which one is a driving force?
Watching NFL teams that have nothing to lose are popping up more successful then teams on the bubble that are afraid of losing…. As Cleveland showed by beating the Superbowl champs Steelers, a team that played from desire controlled and handled a team that was fighting for postseason…. How is that possible? Attribute that to technique…. I noticed the stunts that were done by the Browns DL was more effective then the Steelers DL…. I understand the feeling of being cautious and not messing up the chances of winning it for the team…. But sometimes being cautious is not an ingredient to winning as shown by the Browns…. The Browns played all out without fear and handed a great team one of the biggest loss of the year….

The Breakdown of the Buccaneers

In NFL on December 7, 2009 at 3:44 PM

The ’09 Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking into the eyes of their worst season in almost 25 years…. They have atleast won one game, which saved us from going winless( thanks Packers), so they can’t be as bad as the Lions in modern free agent era…. Still they have to overcome the fact that they are not finishing games….. Tampa Bay comes out explosive and fired up….. But by the time the fourth quarter rolls around…. The teams slowly gets fatigued and the plays aren’t being made….. Since businessmen are making athletic decisions in the organization, Tampa Bay released one of the best LB’s in Derrick Brooks…. Him alone could change the play of Tampa’s LB’s on the roster….. Tampa Bay’s trouble comes from a weak LB corps…. Nothing against the starting LB’s…. It’s just without Brooks…. They become average at best….. Tampa is open to crossing and short routes across the middle…. Which inturn pulls up the strong safety for support and it leaves Tampa open for the deep pass…. There is a reason that they have a defense named after them…. Tampa 2….. With a good player in each level of the defense, an offense has to assure good blocks are created in each level…. If not, the offense will spend 4 qts guessing where the opening is….. Very difficult for inexperience coaches…..

My ’10 prediction is if Tampa drafts a Defensive Tackle and a Linebacker in the first two rounds…. We will see the Tampa Bay Buccaneers back to being the measure of a good defense and a playoff contender.

Domers

In NFL on November 25, 2009 at 1:21 AM

How important is a dome field to a team looking to advance in the playoffs? Very important…. I mean who really wants to play in the “cold” states in the winter time? Think about Pittsburgh, New England, Baltimore, and other cities that don’t have a dome, how well they tend to do against opponents not used to the cold weather…. Especially teams that play in a dome and have to go on the road to an outside field…. They don’t tend to do well….
Now when teams reach the playoffs that play in a dome, players tend to get excited and elevate their game, but for those that have to “suck it up” and play in EXTREME weather… Some tend to fold like a poker hand…. I can’t blame them I would too… But they are getting paid millions to play so there shouldn’t be hesitation… Dome Teams that are in the hunt of the playoffs as of week 12 are Indianapolis, New Orleans, Minnesota, and Arizona when they want to be….
Playing in domes brings out more of the athelete and his abilities during playoff time

Week 10 Results

In NFL on November 13, 2009 at 7:12 PM

Going back and looking at my “hunches” for week 10 predictions, I noticed I started off busted…. These are the teams I picked for week 10….

Bears…lose… C’mon Son!!! No offensive TD’s… Crazy… But Cutler did throw two picks in the redzone… Where was the running game for the Bears? The Bears did better when their QB was average… Can Cutler play under pressure?

Vikings….won
Broncos…lost.. Kyle Orton was knocked out the game
Panthers…won
Dolphins…won
Jets…lost
Saints…won
Titan…won
Steelers…lost
Chiefs…won
Packers…won
Eagles…lost
Patriots…lost
Ravens…won

8-5…. Wow not good, but hey the numbers didn’t lie…. The intangibles is what stained my record…. You can look at my loses and pick out a game changing situation….
